A new organization has emerged in Gloucestershire, bringing together B Corp businesses from the region and aiming to foster a positive impact on society and the environment. Formerly known as the Gloucestershire Responsible Business Initiative, the newly launched Gloucestershire B-Local will serve as a networking hub, connecting 40 regional B Corps and facilitating the sharing of social and environmental best practices.
At the launch event, distinguished speakers from academia and business took the stage. Professor Malcolm Prowle, a renowned expert in performance management at the University of Gloucestershire, shared his insights. Justin Young, operations director at Cotteswold Dairy, and Dr. Cathia Jenainati, head of the Business School at the University of Gloucestershire, also provided their valuable perspectives.
Under the leadership of co-chairs Katharina Child from Invivo Healthcare, Camilla Barnes from Better Business. Better World, Charlie Haward of Optimising IT, and Victoria Petkovic-Short from Beechurst Serviced Apartments, the Gloucestershire B-Local Group aims to promote the B Corp movement and create a community of like-minded businesses. In December 2023, Beechurst Serviced Apartments became the first B Corp certified serviced apartment operator in the UK, reflecting their commitment to responsible operations.
Victoria Petkovic-Short expressed her pride in launching Gloucestershire B-Local, emphasizing the importance of becoming a B Corp and the positive impact it can have on businesses. This new initiative is particularly beneficial for both existing members of the Gloucestershire Responsible Business Initiative and the growing number of newly certified B Corps in the county. The B Corp framework will guide the participating businesses in their pursuit of responsible practices and their commitment to supporting people and the environment.
